ALL ABOUT MIKEY

Mikey was born on February 13, 2003 at Castleview Hospital in Price. He was our third child and first boy! For the past 5 years he has led a normal child's life. He loved to play baseball, jump on the trampoline, ride his bike, go camping and 4-wheeling and most of all playing with and teasing his big sisters. He went to 2 years of preschool and started Kindergarten on August 2008. Then on October 11, 2008 Mikey started to complain of some leg pain we thought it was just growing pains and throughout that night he had cold sweats, fever and then shivering and was complaining that he couldn't walk, we took him to the local ER and they couldn't find out what was wrong and sent us home. Then we had a follow-up with his doctor and she sent us to have more blood work done and that's when they found blast cells, that will be a phone call that we will never forget those words that our son might have CANCER. She had scheduled us a appointment for the very next day at Primary Children's and she tried to assure us that this could be nothing but they just wanted to do some tests. The next day October 16, 2008 we arrived at Primary Childrens Oncology Clinic where we met Dr. Mark Fluchel and we received some terrible news. Mikey was diagnosed with Pre B Standard Risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and from that day our precious sons life has been turned upside down. Mikey was admitted that day for 5 days and had several tests done not to mention he had to have surgery to have a port-a-cath put in his chest to receive his chemotherapy medicine and blood draws. Now Mikey has to take horrible medicines and chemotherapy weekly for the first 6 months and not to mention all the bone marrow testings and spinal taps throughout the duration of his treatment. Mikey has been very sensitive to all the medication he has received and during his induction stage on November 9, 2008 Mikey became paralyzed for approximately a month due to complications from the steroids. He has had to to physical therapy and still has muscle weakness and limiations when he runs. They say that he will just get better over time. Mikey has had several blood transfusions and two hospitalizations since and continues to struggle with the all the medications he has to receive. Mikey's treatment will last approximately 3 years and 3 months. If you would like to help with the medical expenses we will forever be grateful but money is not all, we also need your prayers. Our Precious Little Boy is in good spirits, however I don't think he knows how bad this nightmare is going to get before it gets better. One thing he doesn't like is how the medicine makes him feel. We hope that who ever comes to visit our page if nothing more it makes you aware of this terrible illness that strikes our children with no whys and no explanations, it just happens with no warnings. It's very sad and frustrating. We expect Mikey to be a cancer survivor and fight this battle one day at a time.

Mr. Snowman by Mikey Vigil 1-7-11

Mr. Snowman big and fat all dressed up in his Sunday hat a stick for a cane and a coal for eyes my he looks so proud and wise. Mr. Snowman the sun is hot and you will melt as likely as not but when you are little know what when we will build you up again. When the little snowflakes pile up in a heap and the roads are slippery and all the hills are steep i get on my red sleigh and down the hills i go passing all the children playing in the snow Jack Frost is so busy nipping at my toes he thinks it's funny to try and bite my nose I don't think it's funny for him to bite me so I don't think it's funny for him to bite me cause i get cold and freeze then home i have to go.

Tony Hawk by Mikey Vigil

Tony Hawk is awesome he jumped over the mega ramp he jumped over a 40 foot high building Tony is cool because he is just like that it's what he dose. I would like to meet Tony Hawk and i would tell him im your biggtest fan and i would ask him what did it feel like when you got permoted to the X games and he probably would say good because i can beat all of them.

Franny K Stein she is smart she is a mad scienctist she like to make shrink ray she a boom maker she like gooey stuff and a she is awesome and crazy shes really lowco she was weird and freaky yes i would recomment this to somebody and she saved the world and Franny thought TV was a bad choice for Igar and i did like the book.

Who i love in my family by Mikey Vigil

Who i love in my family is my mom and dad cause they do so much for me and take us so many places and buy so much stuff for us and they love you every day and my super hero in my family is my mom she commits her life to me and taking care of me and if you say to them i love you it will make your mom or dads day and make them happy and i'm grateful for them and your mom and dad loves you more then ever more then 100000000 times in the universe so always tell your mom and dad you love them it will make them happy cuz they do everything for you and they love you very much in the whole entire world.

When i was a little kid by Mikey Vigil

When i was a little kid i use to chew on metal stuff and i use to try to figure out how to get out of my crib and i shoved my face into my dads birthday cake on his bday it was funny and you should of seen my sisters face and my sister was the one that shoved my face in it the cake but to them it was funny but to me it wasnt and i use to always chew on my dads fingers and i use to chew on my moms hair and spin her hair with my finger and for halloween i dressed up as a monster when i was little and i use to chew on everything in my sight.

If i invented something it would be to cure someone it would be called the cure machine and it would cure cancer or a syndrome. Because i want to cure anybody that would have something wrong with them and i would cure anybody cause i just want to save peoples lives.
